St. David’s Preschool is a ministry of St. David’s Episcopal Church
The mission of our preschool is to provide a joyful enriching learning experience that will develop a love for learning and a sense of security that will last a lifetime.
Instructors base lessons on developmental principals and offer opportunities to form basic concepts and readiness skills though the use of many varied hands on, concrete learning experiences. Focus is on play, exploration, and creative activities which promote skills in problem solving, thinking and reasoning, language and socialization. Much emphasis is placed on a child’s physical development, small and large motor, as this critically affects all other areas of developmental learning.
Above all, we believe that each child is sacred, special, and unique. We seek to meet his or her particular individual needs in a secure, emotionally supportive environment.
Wonderful offerings… perhaps you had a friend tell you about our preschool, perhaps you did a search online; we’re delighted that you are interested in learning more about what makes our preschool so special. To learn more about the activities of each individual class, click on the tabs under the header: More Preschool Information. St. David’s Preschool offers an early morning nursery drop-off, and we invite children in all our classes to bring a lunch and stay for an extra hour to allow for a slightly extended preschool day. We allow only “nut-free” foods to be brought and served at preschool. Children who are potty trained are eligible to sign-up for after school ballet or sports specials. We value security and safety for our students. Our building is locked during preschool hours and our classrooms have an intercom system connected to the main office.
Preparing your little one for preschool
For a visual reference to help children feel more prepared, we made a picture book that demonstrates some day to day activities that children can expect when they come to preschool. Take a look: This is the way we…
Children who are age three and older arrive and depart by way of carpool. The preschool provides cling vinyl numbers that are affixed to the car picking the child. Watch this helpful video to see how to apply the carpool numbers to your windshield: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5Ez7Br6InI
Teaching Staff and facilities
The teaching staff of St. David’s Preschool consists of a teaching team of two teachers, each with experience in early childhood education and trained in Infant/Child CPR and first aid. St. David’s is a training center for area preschool teachers through the Georgia Educational Training Agency. The classes meet in the Sunday School classrooms, most of which have small bathrooms between adjoining rooms. The children also utilize the church’s music room and parish hall for Music and Movement, a small preschool chapel, a fenced in picnic area, and two shaded, fenced and gated, age-appropriate playgrounds.
