St. David’s Family Ministry invites you to join a new group for parents beginning in November!
• Wednesday November 6th and 20th
• 6:30-8:00 p.m. St. Gabriel Room
The group is in support of parents for the transition of the changing family nest as children take flight, and we find our wings too.
Family therapist, author, and parent Alan Wolfelt, PhD says it this way, “You’ve spent most of your adult life focused on the care and raising of your children, and now they’re leaving. For you and for them, this major transition is often challenging in many ways. You may feel surprised at the power of your feelings, a confusing mixture of sadness, hope, emptiness, fear, excitement, and other emotions all at once.”
Join lay leader Sally Goldberg, Judy Hine, Director of Children’s Ministry, Michelle Ortiz, St. David’s priest for families, and other parents as we share our experiences about this time of change in parenting and for the family.
Together we can offer one another friendship and support to navigate this season of growth for our children as well as for ourselves.
• Will you join us? Bring a friend! Contact Michelle, firstname.lastname@example.org or Judy, email@example.com to say you can come.
• Need childcare? Please contact Sarah McVay, firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 11/3.
For our reflection and discussion, we will use the book, Healing the Empty Nester’s Grieving Heart, 100 Practical Ideas for Parents After the Kids Move Out, Go Off to College, or Start Taking Flight, by Alan Wolfelt, PhD. Dr. Wolfelt is the father of 3 young adult children, and is a noted author, educator, and grief counselor.
