The Rev'd Kenneth Swanson, PhD.
Rector V
Ken Swanson has been in parish ministry for over thirty years, serving churches in California, Scotland, New York, and most recently Tennessee, where he was Dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville from 1997—2007. Prior to Nashville, he was Rector of Grace Church in Millbrook, New York from 1987—1997. He holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison; Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena; and the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland. He is the author of numerous articles on theology, spirituality, biblical studies and social ethics as well as three books, including Uncommon Prayer, Approaching Intimacy with God and A Seal Upon Your Heart.
Since 2007, Fr. Ken organized a new, online education company, developing online curriculum for adult spiritual formation. He is the father of three adult children, two in New York and one in Chicago. His recreational passions include baseball, golf, running, reading and cinema.
He was called to be the Interim Rector for St. David's in late
February, 2010 until the end of March 2011, at which time he was
called by the Vestry to be the permanent Rector of St. David's.
The Rev’d Anne Elizabeth Swiedler,
Associate Rector
Rev'd
Anne Elizabeth is a native of Newton, Massachusetts and
worked as a healthcare educator at Northside and Saint Joseph's Hospitals
for 18 years. She was ordained to the transitional diaconate in June
2002,
and was ordained to the priesthood on January 25, 2003, here at St. David's Church.
She
is married to Ed and they have 2 grown children, Chris and
Caroline, and 4 grandchildren. She is a graduate of the Candler School of Theology
at Emory University and studied at Sewanee School of Theology in the
Anglican Studies program.
The Rev’d Antonio Brito
Assistant to the Rector for Hispanic Ministry
The Rev. Antonio Brito
was received as an Episcopal priest by Bishop of Atlanta J. Neil Alexander
on Feb. 2, 2011, at St. David's Episcopal Church. A graduate of a Roman Catholic seminary in the Dominican Republic, Brito
leads the San David Hispanic mission and works part-time for the Diocese of Atlanta's other Hispanic ministries. He spent six months last year assisting at Santa Maria, East Point, and with the Hispanic congregation at the Cathedral of St. Philip.
The Rev’d Deacon Kathy Holman
Assistant to the Rector for Christian Formation
Kathy
Holman, a former St. David’s parishioner and deacon in the Diocese of Atlanta,
joined our clergy staff on a half-time basis in January, 2011. She has degrees in philosophy and religion, and is a graduate of the Shalem Institute’s Spiritual Guidance program. She has held several leadership positions in the Diocese of Atlanta, including DOK Diocesan President, Chair of the Spiritual Formation Commission, and Founder and Co-Director of Omega Point, the diocesan Spiritual Direction Training Program. Her parish ministry among us
includes teaching, preaching, pastoral care, and the development of a new ministry for young families with a specific focus on young mothers. Kathy has an existing ministry of Spiritual Formation called Coracle, which she will be continuing.
We are happy to welcome Kathy and her husband Bill as part of our parish family.
