  Children's Sunday School 2011-2012

All about Sunday school 2's-5th Grade
Sunday school at St. David’s begins August 14, 2011 and continues through mid-May, 2012. 10:15-11:00 a.m. Bring a friend!

Sunday school is a weekly opportunity for fellowship and for learning as we share the stories of Jesus and the Bible through music; arts; crafts; play; and as we enjoy yummy snacks. All children are welcome and invited to attend weekly! Parent volunteers are a key support to teachers each Sunday for children of all ages. Parents are scheduled on a rotating basis for children 2 years-K to assist the teachers with the care of the children and for help with special activities. Thank you to all our parent volunteers and Youth volunteers who teach and care for our youngest church members.

The four and five year olds meet in the choir room at 10:10 for Cherub Choir; and then onto their Sunday school classrooms at 10:30. The four year olds who have been in childcare for the 9:00 service will be taken to the choir room at 10:10. The children love this special music time and we are thankful for this enriching experience.

Where we meet:
2 year olds: St. Elizabeth
3 year olds: St. Mark
4 year olds (preK)*: St. John
5 year olds (kindergarten)*:  St. Luke
1st grade: Catacombs

2nd-5th graders:  After the 9:00 service, all second-fifth graders meet their classmates and group shepherds in the front of the nave, then walk together to the first floor of Jeffords Fellowship Hall for a snack together before beginning their classes. Shepherds are the adult volunteers who guide and care for the children throughout their morning; and who are present to assist the classroom teachers. Please join us each Sunday and bring a friend! Parents, please pick-up children at 11:00 a.m. in the classrooms. Thank you to all our parent volunteers and Youth volunteers who teach and care for our youngest church members.

First Communion Class at St. David’s
First Communion class is taught over three consecutive Sundays; and is offered both in the fall and in the springtime. Children first grade and older are invited to attend along with their parents.

The class is taught as both invitation and instruction to the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The class is interactive and weekly teaching includes games and special activities to engage the children.
